Aremun Podcast, siamo al numero quarantadue, per voi il mix più intervista concessa in esclusiva dal produttore spagnolo Unam Zetineb nonchè proprietario insieme Mark Morris della label Mano Recording. Si tratta di un artista che via abbiamo già proposto tempo fà, sulla falsa riga del precedente, questo podcast è un classico per quel che riguarda la techno ipnotica, con un ritmo continuo e inarrestabile, senza risultare mai pesante o aggressiva, come se si stesse iniziando un sogno infinito.
- Come ti sei avvicinato alla musica elettronica?
A 16 anni ero così curioso di toccare il giradischi, mio fratello era un DJ e lo vedevo tutti i giorni suonare, questo mi divertiva, volevo provare a fare la sua stessa cosa, e lui mi ha insegnato l’essenziale per mettere a tempo due dischi e manovrare il mixer.
- Quali sono stati i primi dischi che hai comprato e i primi artisti che hanno segnato la tua infanzia?
Il mio primo vinile è stato Dritte Raum – Hale Bop, un classico. Gli artisti che mi hanno influenzato da quel momento non sono stati gli artisti techno, ma quelli trance o progressive.
- Qual è stato il primo club in cui hai suonato?
Il primo club in cui ho suonato è stato nella mia città, lo ricordo ancora con grande entusiasmo, perché sono diventato dj resident per tutta la stagione.
- In media quanto tempo spendi in studio? Ti piace terminare rapidamente le tracce o ti piace di allungare un pò il processo?
Sono stato per lunghi periodi in studio anche per circa 12 ore al giorno, mi piace lavorare con tempi lunghi su ogni progetto, fino a quando non lo completo come voglio. Al momento trascorro meno tempo, perché ci sono molti progetti che devono ancora venire fuori.
- Con quali strumenti hai iniziato a produrre musica e come è fatto il tuo studio oggi?
Ho iniziato a usare il software senza macchine, dopo qualche tempo ho iniziato a comprare synth, drum machine, effetti a pedali, ecc
- Che cosa ti ispira di più quando stai producendo una traccia? Ascolti altri generi musicali?
Non c’è nessuna cosa particolare che mi porta ispirazione nel produrre, mi siedo nel mio studio e lasciare il flusso all’immaginazione e l’intuizione. Sì, sono un amante della musica, ascolto di tutto, dal rock, indie, ma soprattutto ascolto a tutti gli stili di musica elettronica, in effetti non ascolto molta techno.
- Puoi parlarci della tua etichetta Mano Recording.
Mano Recordng nasce con l’unione tra me e Mark Morris. Abbiamo iniziato con un EP per la sua etichetta Ketra, abbiamo visto che avevamo delle cose in comune e alcune idee simili e abbiamo deciso di creare la nostra etichetta insieme. Ogni release su Mano ha 2 brani originali e 2 remix di artisti che ci piacciono o ammiriamo, ma soprattutto la musica fuori dal trendings.
- Perché hai creato alias UZB?
Beh, UZB ha iniziato a differenziare la mia parte più melodica, piuttosto che il lato mentale o scuro, in realtà è stato Dustin Zahn che mi ha incoraggiato a iniziare con questo progetto.
- È uscito su etichette importanti come LABRYTNH RECORDS, ENEMY RECORDS, KETRA REC. SONNTAG MORGEN, FLUXUS REC, SOFTWARE RECORDS, CRS RECORDINGS, TRANSLUCENT RECORDINGS, etc. C’è un brano che preferisci tra tutte quelli che hai prodotto?
Onestamente ho molti brani preferiti, ma certamente la traccia che mi ha dato molto più di altri brani personalmente e professionalmente è Agmattore, io amo questa traccia. hehe :)
- Cosa c’è nella borsa dei dischi di Unam Zetineb?
Beh, mi piace comprare musica di artisti non molto popolari. Penso che sia un modo per sorprendere il pubblico. Io sono un fan del comprare dischi “underground”, anche se io odio quella parola, voglio dire i record che passano inosservati, ma che contengono tracce sorprendenti.
- Ultima domanda … Che cosa possiamo aspettarci da Unam Zetineb nel 2014?
Ci sono molti vinili in arrivo, i remix di Ben Gibson, Yan Cook e altri, li scoprirete presto.

- How did you approach into electronic music?
At 16 years old I was so curious to touch the turntable because my brother was a DJ and I saw him every day playing and I enjoyed it, I also wanted to enjoy doing the same, and he taught me essentials things to balance two disks and manage the mixer.
- What were the first records you bought and the first artists who have marked your childhood?
My first vinyl was Dritte Raum – Hale Bop, a classic. Artists that influenced me from that time were not techno artists, they were trance or progressive artists
- What was the first club you’ve played?
The first club I ever played was in my town, I still remember it with great enthusiasm, because I became a resident all the season.
- On average how much time to you spend in the studio? Do you like to finish tracks quickly or do you like to stretch the process a bit?
I have been a long period in the studio around 12 hours a day, I like to work long time on each project until the project is as I want.
At the moment I spend less time because there are many projects that are still to come out.
- With which instruments did you start producing music and how it made your study today?
I started using software without any machines, after some time I started to buy synths, drum machine, pedals effects, etc
- What mostly inspires you when you are producing a track? Do you listen other musical genres?
There isn’t any special thing that makes me inspire me to produce, I just sit in the studio and let imagination and intuition flow.
Yes, I am a music lover, I listen to everything from rock, indie, but mostly I listen to all the styles of electronic music, but actually not a lot of techno.
- Tell me about your label Mano Recording.
Mano Recordings born from the union of Mark Morris and I. We started doing an EP on his label Ketra, we saw that we had things in common and some similar ideas and we decided to create our own label together.
Each release in Mano has 2 original and 2 remixes of artists we like or admire, but mostly music out of trendings.
- Why have you created alias UZB?
Well, UZB started to differentiate my most melodic part rather than the mental or dark side, actually Dustin Zahn was who encouraged me to start with this project.
- You came out on labels as important as LABRYTNH RECORDS, ENEMY RECORDS, KETRA REC. SONNTAG MORGEN, FLUXUS REC, SOFTWARE RECORDS, CRS RECORDINGS, TRANSLUCENT RECORDINGS, etc. There’s a track that you prefer among all the ones you’ve made ?
Honestly I have many favorite tracks, but certainly the track that has given me much more than another tracks personally and professionally is Agmattore, I love this track. hehe
- What’s in the bag records of Unam Zetineb?
Well, I love to buy music from artists not very popular. I think that it is a way to surprise the audience. I’m a fan of buying “underground” records, even If I hate that word, I mean those records that go unnoticed but they are containing amazing tracks.
- Last question… What can we expect from Unam Zetineb 2014?
There are many vinyls coming, Ben Gibson remix, remix Yan Cook and others, you will see it soon.
